About Us
We are dedicated to enhancing Vermont's heritage crops, threatened and endangered native plants, and the countless insects and animals that rely on them!
A few things to note:
A few things to note:
- Selling Vermont threatened and endangered plants from cultivated seed, even across state lines, is legal. In fact, plant sales and cultivation are encouraged under the Endangered Species Act, which recognizes that commercial propagation is often essential to the survival of listed species.
- All of our plants are grown in Organic Materials Review Institute-listed potting soils from Vermont Compost Company.
- All of our plants are grown from commercially-available seed from cultivated sources. We do not currently collect seeds of wild plants; such collection may negatively impact wild populations and requires a Vermont Threatened and Endangered Species Taking Permit. We may apply for this permit in the future if seed is not commercially available.
- We do not currently sell any Federally endangered/CITES-listed plants, and are therefore NOT required to have a Native Endangered and Threatened Species Interstate Commerce Permit. However, we may require future buyers to apply for this permit if we propagate Federally-listed plants such as Goldenseal (Hydrastis canadensis).
